Description
The purpose of this quantitative, non-experimental study is to compare variables associated with job satisfaction, job skill development, and work-life balance to identify if these factors support job satisfaction. This study endeavors to increase the theoretical significance of job satisfaction through a new understanding of the connection between job satisfaction and reducing the phenomenon known as quiet quitting, which stems from employee disengagement. The research questions ask if a correlation exists between employee job satisfaction and employer-fostered conditions of skill development and work-life balance. The setting comprises secondary data from the 2022 employee survey for the City of Tempe, Arizona. The secondary data includes responses from six hundred forty-three employees from various departments, encompassed from a total employee population of seventeen hundred forty-seven employees. The 2022 City of Tempe Employee Survey was shared with participants both electronically and by physical mail and administered by the ETC Institute. The statistical analysis utilized within the study consists of the Independent Samples t-test, Cohen's D test, and Levene’s Test of Equality to validate the alternative and null hypotheses. The findings indicate that a statistically significant difference is not detected between the variables of skill development, work-life balance, and job satisfaction; however, results from Cohen's D test measuring effect size indicate a meaningful connection between the variables is present. Recommendations for future research to overcome limitations include exploring longitudinal studies and diverse population samples to explore further employer-fostered conditions that support job satisfaction.
