Description
In the last decade, ketamine has redefined its role in surgical management, offering unique benefits that challenge traditional general anesthesia. From impacting patient satisfaction to affecting postoperative complications, ketamine is another tool that can be utilized by anesthesia providers everywhere. This literature review will evaluate ketamine’s safety profile, the impact on patient recovery, and its implication on facility-level outcomes. The purpose of this literature review is to analyze if the incidence of intraoperative ketamine administration will increase following an educational session to anesthesia providers regarding the risks and benefits of its use.
