Content Delivery Preferences for Child Development Students: A Quantitative Study Analyis of Enrollment Patterns

The purpose of this quantitative research was to determine whether differences change in enrollment existed in Temple College’s Child Development program from face-to-face/hybrid and online only content delivery. Data on students enrolled over a four year period of time over time were examined using non-parametric and parametric statistics, such as Kruskal–Wallis and ANOVA, with the calculation of effect sizes to measure real-world implications. Findings indicated there were statistically significant increases in course-level enrollment when courses transitioned into online delivery. Results suggested that online delivery opened access, supported institutional objectives, and eliminated barriers for working childcare providers. Implications emphasized flexible content delivery to maintain enrollment and to meet workforce demands. Suggestions included developing additional online courses, continuous training for faculty, and collaborating with local work force agencies.
